My name is Cheryl Hardy Poole and I am the ESOL (English Speaking to Other Languages) Teacher at Williston-Elko High. This is my 24th year in education. After 23 years as a classroom teacher at my prior school, it was time for a new journey. I began at Kelly Edwards as their K-2 Interventionist and transferred into the ESOL position due to a great need in the Williston and Blackville areas.
I am a 1993 graduate of Wagener-Salley High. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood in 1997 at USC Aiken and in 2006 completed my Master's Degree in Divergent Learning at Columbia College. I have certification as a Read to Succeed Literacy Teacher and I am working towards certification in ESOL. I have two children, Hank (21) and Emma (15), plus a fur baby (dog) named Tippy and an axolotl (salamander) named Orion. I have been a resident of Wagener since 1988. Reading and watching movies are hobbies of mine as well as painting and drawing.
My educational philosophy is "All children can learn, just at different times and in different ways." My position as an ESOL teacher is to instruct and be a support for students for whom English is a second language. I look forward to working with the parents and students of Williston-Elko for the 2021-2022 school year.
